Surname etymology
Fakhoury (فاخوري) is an Arabic
surname that was given to families whose line of business was pottery.
The word fukhar literally means clay, so pottery craftsmen, or potters,
were named Fakhoury.
My name is Ibrahim Fakhoury. I am not a potter, but my great grand
father used to be one. My family has lived in Nazareth (Palestine) for
over 3 centuries. The Fakhoury family of Nazareth is religion-wise
split. There are Muslim and Christian Fakhourys.
